The North Estonian Roma Association was born in the course of the reorganization of the Cultural Society of Estonian Romas (founded in 1991). The Association was registered in 2000. There is no permanent membership. The Association's activities are project-based and involve Romas from all over Estonia. The main areas of activity are cross-border cultural and educational partnership, adult education, lobby-work to support the language community, project consultations and counselling. At the present time the development programs of Roma family centres has become the main focus of interest. The Association has no paid employees.
